The Disney teen movie, High School Musical is being turned into a London stage show, it has been announced.

The musical will be the latest new outing for the record-breaking global phenomenon, which first appeared as a children’s TV film two years ago.

The production will differ from the 31-date UK tour, which has its official opening on Monday night in Bromley, Kent, and is expected to be seen by 600,000 people.

The London production will open with a 10-week season at the Hammersmith Apollo in June, with actors yet to be cast.

It will be the latest Disney show in London following Mary Poppins, and The Lion King.

The announcement comes as the box office opens for the High School Musical UK tour, following £9 million worth of advance sales.

Around 200 million people have seen the original film since it was first broadcast in 2006 in the US followed by the UK.

The movie won two Emmy Awards and the soundtrack became the world’s Number One album.

Unlike the first two High School Musicals that were broadcast on TV, High School Musical 3 opens in cinemas later this year.

The story follows teenage couple Troy and Gabriella, played by actors Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, who face a possible split as they head off to different colleges.

How are you feeling about the scandal? I’m much better now. But truthfully I don’t like talking about it. It was something that was meant to be private, and even though it isn’t anymore, I’d still like to keep it as private as I can. It was very traumatic, and I am extremely upset it happened. I hope all my fans can learn from my mistake and make smart decisions. But I wouldn’t have been able to get through it if it wasn’t for my family, friends, and fans, who supported me all along the way.

Who told you the photos had been leaked? I found out from my manager. We heard some story was going to break in the tabloids, and I was like, What?!? A few days later, the picture came out while I was on vacation in Australia. Thank God, I wasn’t home–it would have sucked if I was at home. So I got to be away from L.A. for about a millisecond. But when I came back, it got kind of crazy.

How did you explain the situation to your mom? I was just open with her, and she was just so cute. She was like, “Well, everyone can be naked if they want to.” My parents are very supportive of me. And they know I’m a teenager, and yes, kids do stupid things sometimes. It’s very unfortunate because with the Internet these days, you don’t have a personal life. Nothing is private: Everyone knows everything, and they can find out everything about you. You’re not as safe as you think you are, and you have to be aware of the people you’re around.

It’s great that Zac stood by you through all this. To you, what’s the best thing about him? He always makes me happy. He literally knows exactly what to do to make me laugh.

Do you ever think about the future with Zac? No. It’s fun having a boyfriend. He’s a friend and a cute friend who you like. It’s nice. But only time will tell. I’m still young, and I have my girlfriends and I have my family. I think that it’s definitely important to have balance. I think girls can be sucked into the relationship and give too much. They like to be so into their boyfriends, you know? And you can’t do that, because you get too infatuated–and then you lose contact with your friends. It happens to a lot of girls.

Newline Cinemas and Michael Bays company are set to remake the 80’s cult classic horror film, Nightmare on Elm Street.  No word yet on if the original Freddie Kreuger, Robert Englund will reprise his role in the film.

High School Musical Stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale have more than one thing in common these days.  For example, they are both rising stars with Disney’s High School Musical movies, and they both star in Red for Mark Ecko ads. Now the twosome are sharing clothing as well. We caught Ashley rocking a dress on the red carpet that Vanessa wore on one of her music videos.

Hero’s Star Hayden Panettiere may be on hiatus due to the Writer’s Guild Strike, but the actress is keeping busy with a cause. Hayden has been actively involved in the Save the Wales foundation lately and hopes her star status will bring this issue closer to everyone’s heart.

Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus has offically confirmed that she is no longer dating Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers.  Miley says she is happily single and Nick’s brother Joe says “We are all very single. We are on the road a lot and it’s crazy!”

This is the first time anyone has publicly commented on the rumors of the romance.  Guess it’s over before it could really get started.

Miley Cyrus gave an interview this morning on Goodmorning America about the recent scandal involving a 6 year old girl and her mom who lied in an essay to win Hannah Montana tickets.    The girl’s mother, Priscilla Ceballos and her concocted an essay stating that the girl lost her father in Iraq and that her only dream was to go to a Hannah Montana concert.

When it was found that the essay was a fabrication, the sponsors pulled the tickets.  This is what Miley had to say about the ordeal:

“I was really kind of upset. I mean, that’s just not a cool scenario,” says Cyrus. “But it just shows what people will do for a ticket.”

Cyrus also says she is aware of just how desperate fans are for tickets to her concerts, even if it means burning holes in their parents’ wallets.

“People are paying thousands and thousands of dollars to come see one show. So we have to give 120 percent each time,” she says.

Monique Adrienne Coleman, born on November 13, 1980 in Orangeburg, South Carolina began her career at an early age in Columbia, South Carolina. She began training at the Workshop Theatre School of Dramatic Arts, where she worked on over 15 plays. In an acting class taught by a guest teacher, she landed her first commercial. Since then, she started auditioning for various stints in the Southeast region. She was later educated at The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, where she earned a degree in acting.

Coleman’s first lead role was in the independent feature film, Mother of the River, which won awards in various film festivals in Chicago. Her breakout performance was in Disney’s hit made-for-TV film, High School Musical, where she played Taylor McKessie, a role she reprised in the film’s second installment.

Star Scoop spoke with Coleman in October 2006, and the young actress shared her views on the successful Disney hit. She said, “High School Musical is definitely the best thing that’s happened to my career and I walked away with great friends from it. Coming into it, I think everyone was kind of skeptical, because Disney Channel puts out a lot of movies, and none of them have been as successful as High School Musical. It was a life changing experience. It was so much fun to shoot and it was difficult. Through High School Musical, I learned a lot about press, everything. It really felt like, not only a launch pad, but also a training ground as well for how to be on the business side on the industry. I was the character that really was, in some ways, the backbone of the story, in terms of revealing the peer pressure that teens go through in terms of people telling them that they should do one thing and not the other.”

Since then, Coleman appeared as guest on other series such as The Suite Life of Zack and Cody , Forever Plaid, Not So Suite 16, and Neither a Borrower Nor a Speller Bee. She also had guest appearances in Boston Public, Gilmore Girls , Malcolm in the Middle , Strong Medicine, 10-8: Officers on Duty, Married to the Kellys, and Veronica Mars .

In the third season of Dancing with the Stars , Coleman paired up with professional dancer Louis van Amstel to be one of the eleven contending teams. However, she and her partner were eliminated in the season’s eighth week.

High School Musical star, Monique Coleman, took time out of her busy schedule to blog about the Dancing With the Stars tour as she prepares to shoot HSM 3:

Not only am I reunited with my old favorite dances, but I’m back with Louis van Amstel (pictured), my season three partner. He has been a dream to dance with again, especially without the pressure of trying to learn dances in less than a week’s time and then go out and compete. The show was stressful, but the tour is relaxed and fun.

This time around, the dancing is for pure pleasure and audience enjoyment — and the audiences have been phenomenal!

It’s been fun to meet new people, reconnect with the dancers, and have some time to myself on the road. I was on tour with High School Musical last year and that was fun — but a lot more hectic. For starters, I shared a bus with Ashley Tisdale. This time, I’ve got my own tour bus and so after each show I come back and just chill. It’s heavenly.
