Man Sentenced in T.I. Pal’s Murder Case

One of the brothers convicted of killing rapper T.I.’s former assistant has been sentenced to 66 years to life in prison.

Hosea Thomas, 34, was handed the jail term on Tuesday (23Dec08) after he was found guilty last month (Nov08) of slaying 26-year-old Philant Johnson in a drive-by shooting in May 2006 following a disagreement at a Cincinnati, Ohio nightclub.

Thomas was arrested along with his brother Pardon Thomas in June (08).

The jurors in the Cincinnati, Ohio trial found Hosea guilty on all 11 counts in the case against him, including murder, five counts of felonious assault and illegally possessing a gun after a felony conviction.

T.I., real name Clifford Harris, took the stand during Thomas’ trial on 21 November (08), telling the court how he believed the bullets that killed his childhood friend were meant for him, saying: “All of those rounds were fired for me, in my opinion.”

The rapper was not hurt in the incident; three others were injured.

 

Jennifer Hudson will make her first apperance since Mother/Brother and Nephew death

Jennifer Hudson will make her first public appearance since the tragic deaths of her mother, brother and nephew at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala in February.

Jennifer has been with close love ones and out of the public eye since mom Darnell Donerson Hudson, sibling Jason Hudson and seven-year-old nephew Julian King were shot in October – will perform a selection of Neil Diamond songs at the event, to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center

The concert on February 6 include Coldplay, the Foo Fighters, Josh Groban and Tim McGraw ahead of the 51st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles’ Staples Center on February 8.

Jennifer is said to be ready to get her life and career back on track following the tragedy.

Earlier this month, she was due to shoot a rescheduled video for her new single ‘If It Isn’t Love’ – which was originally set to happen around the time of the deaths.

However, Jennifer pulled out of filming the promo amid reports she was still too emotionally distressed about the murders.

Jennifer’s brother-in-law William Balfour – the estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia – has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion.

Paris Hilton’s theft

Paris Hilton  $2 million of jewellery was stolen from her Los Angeles home.

Late Thursday evening (18.12.08) and early Friday morning (19.12.08) when burglars stole “millions of dollars of jewellery – diamonds, necklaces, rings, watches and family heirlooms from her grandmothers”.

Paris, who was out with friends in Los Angeles when the theft took place, told Life and style Weekly magazine: “I am devastated. I cannot believe someone broke into my home. They took items that had such sentimental value that no one will ever be able to replace. I’m just thankful that I wasn’t there when it happened.”

DMX extradicted to Arizona

DMX   move him from his current cell in Miami, Florida, cross country to a jail in Arizona.

 Earl Simmons, has been serving time at Miami-Dade County Jail after federal agents captured him earlier this month when an Arizona judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

DMX missed a court appearance in Arizona earlier this month, where he was due to face charges of drug possession, identity theft and animal cruelty.

Will Smith Donates over 100,000 to Scienetology

Smith, and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, have donated $1.3 million to charitable causes in the last year, including vast amounts to a number of religious, civic and arts groups, according to Foxnews.com.

The biggest contribution was to a born-again Christian based organization, Yesha Ministries of Philadelphia, which received $250,000 from the Will Smith Foundation. U2: No Line On The Horizon

No Line On The Horizon, the new studio album from U2, will be released in North America on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
 
Written and recorded in various locations, No Line On The Horizon is the group’s 12th studio album and is their first release since the nine million selling album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, released in late 2004.
 
Sessions for No Line On The Horizon began last year in Fez, Morocco, and continued in the band’s own studio in Dublin, before moving to New York’s Platinum Sound Recording Studios. It was completed at Olympic Studios in London.
 
The album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite.

Akon sentenced to 65 hours community service

Akon has been sentenced to 65 hours of community service for his engagement with a fan. Akon who was born in Senegalese is guilty after a concert where he threw a teenage boy off stage in New York last year. He was also fine $250….

Akon – real name Aliaune Thiam – shook hands with the now 16-year-old victim, Anthony Smith, after entering his plea and apologised to him and his parents, but refused to comment on his sentence…
His lawyer issued a statement saying: “We are pleased the case has been resolved and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him.”

According to witnesses at the June 2007 concert, which took place at New York’s Duchess Stadium, a spectator threw something on stage, sparking the incident.

After asking the crowd to identify the culprit, a security guard picked out Anthony, then 15, and sent him up to the stage, where the ‘Lonely’ star hoisted him onto his shoulders and threw him into the crowd. Unfortunately, one concertgoer claimed to have suffered concussion when the boy landed on her.
